Social isolation separates us from the community and work that would otherwise be significant coping strategies. How can arts leaders support themselves as well as provide support for staff members? Adam Reynolds is a drama therapist and social worker in NYC who works with individuals, groups, and organizations that have experienced traumatic events. He will offer some basic guidelines about navigating issues likely to emerge during the pandemic crisis and then facilitate a conversation with members about what issues they may have experienced within their organizations.

On Saturday, March 16th, 2013, NAMT hosted Festival alumni and NAMT members in a roundtable about how writers can be their own best advocate at and collaborative partner with a theatre when heading into a workshop or production.

NAMT members and Festival alumni gathered to discuss developing new musicals in southern California and saw Los Otros (National Fund for New Musicals 11-12) by Michael John LaChuisa and Ellen Fitzhugh (Paper Moon, Festival 1995) at the Mark Taper Forum.
NAMT hosted Festival alumni and NAMT members in a roundtable about the writers building relationships with other writers, directors, theatres, producers, agents and licensing houses.
Goodspeed Musicals in Connecticut
At the Summit, NAMT members and Festival of New Musicals alumni gathered to discuss developing new musicals while attending Goodspeed’s 6th Annual Festival of New Artists.
TheatreWorks in Palo Alto, CA
Held in Palo Alto and Mountain View, CA in conjunction with TheatreWorks’ new works festival, this Summit focused on new works development in California, and the role of the creative producer. This year, TheatreWorks presented a developmental production of Fly By Night and staged readings of Great Wall and Red Clay, plus two plays, all of which can be seen over that one weekend.

In June at CAP21 in New York City, NAMT members and Festival alumni discussed the writers’ elusive art of presenting themselves and their shows to the industry, a topic requested by many writers at the 2009 Roundtable.
Village Theatre in Issaquah, Washington
Held in Issaquah, WA in conjunction with the Village Theatre’s new works festival and the 5th Avenue Theater’s world premiere of Catch Me If You Can, this Summit focused on new works development through various means outside of New York City.
In June at CAP21 in New York City, NAMT members and alumni writers shared ideas and insights on how producers and writers could help each other and better understand each other’s needs.

The 2008 New Works Summit at CAP21 brought together producers, writers, and industry leaders to discuss key topics related to developing and producing new musicals. The Summit was an opportunity for conversation between creative and producing entities in order to help foster collaboration among the participants.
