New Musicals on the Horizon

October 24 - 25, 2023

NYC and Online

Pershing Square Signature Center
480 West 42nd Street

Maybe the most important musical theatre networking event of the year, the Fall Conference explores the most pressing issues around new work production and development, as well as the state of the industry more broadly. Just as importantly, it provides a community for leaders of theatres from all over the country and the world to share best practices, brainstorm and support one another.

At this year’s Conference, we’ll take an in-depth look at the state of the field right now, for both administrators and artists. With news about crises and shifting norms and expectations, where do we imagine things are headed? What are your concerns and what are you hopeful about? How can the NAMT membership support each other and support writers in a difficult time, continuing to produce amazing work for our communities? How can we think creatively about the new musical development process? How can we make our work more accessible to more people and engage the next generation of creators and leaders? What does the future of musical theatre look like, and what do we want it to look like?

Plus breakfast and lunch on both days, our classic networking cocktail party, plenty of time to connect with colleagues one-on-one, and your first chance to meet the Festival of New Musicals writers.

In addition to the in-person Conference in New York, we’re continuing to offer an online/hybrid experience so that more members may participate from anywhere! Our mobile and desktop app allow all attendees to connect regardless of which option they choose, providing an online experience that goes beyond just passive viewing. Discounts are available for multiple participants to attend from your organization, with extremely low rates to add online attendees from organizations who also send representatives in person.

Registration

The Fall Conference is open to NAMT members in good standing and invited guests only. If you are not sure of your membership status, or are interested in attending the Conference as a way to learn more about membership, please email Member Services Director Adam Grosswirth.

You may register up to 10 people** from your organization on a single form for either the Fall Conference or Festival of New Musicals or both! Every in-person attendee will receive a badge, which acts as your ticket and all participants (whether in-person or online) will receive and a login to our events app. Important pre-event information will be sent via email, so please be sure to enter each attendees’ correct email address.

Upon completion of the form, you will see a confirmation screen and receive an email. Please do not close your browser tab until the form is fully submitted.

Check payments must be received by October 10, 2023. If a registration is canceled due to non-payment, attendees will have to re-register at the current pricing.

What’s Included

Your in-person registration fee includes all Conference programming, breakfast and lunch on both days, and the networking cocktail party on Tuesday evening***. In-person participants will also receive full online access in case you need to attend part of the Conference remotely for any reason. Our event app will be available post-Conference to access materials and recordings, and continue to connect with other attendees.

Online registrants will have access to all online/hybrid Conference programming live through the Webex Events app or website, and will be able to participate via chat and other interactive features. Please note that some breakout sessions may not be streamed or recorded. However others may be online-only! (More agenda details coming soon)

Most sessions will be recorded, and will be available after the Conference on our website to logged in NAMT members, however these recordings will not be available right away, so live attendance is encouraged!

Guidelines

Participation Guidelines

NAMT is committed to recognizing and celebrating the diversity of experiences, talents, skills, cultures and opinions that our members bring to our community, and specifically to our events. We invite you to participate in all of our Conferences, Roundtables, Festivals and other events, both online and in-person, in a spirit of open-mindedness, curiosity and respect.

We want every NAMT event to be a safe, inclusive and productive environment for all participants. In that spirit, we ask you to…

  • Be inclusive, actively seeking and inviting diverse perspectives
  • Recognize that some people are comfortable responding quickly and verbally and others are not, and create space for those who may need more time to be heard
  • Listen to understand
  • Participate in an active and direct way, with professionalism and respect for others
  • Be considerate, kind, constructive and helpful in your language and actions
  • Use “I” statements and avoid generalizations
  • Assume good intentions but acknowledge impact
  • Ask questions if something isn’t clear, and receive both questions and answers with openness and generosity
  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behavior and language
  • Respect confidentiality requests by speakers and other participants

We may take action (up to and including expulsion with no refund and exclusion from future events) to redress disruptive, disrespectful or offensive behavior or any other actions perceived by NAMT staff and/or Board to be in conflict with the above guidelines.

We know that learning and working together can produce both joy and conflict. We recognize that to learn is to stumble, and we are striving to provide a space for risk, creativity, respect, appreciation, growth and collaboration. When addressing conflicts of any type, we commit to these Participation Guidelines.

Thank you to every NAMT community member for helping to make all of our events informative, inclusive and respectful.
