Craig Bohmler is a composer whose works have been performed in Europe, North America and Japan. Primarily a composer for the “singing theater” and the solo voice, Craig has 3 operas and 14 musicals to his credit as well as 200 art songs, and numerous choral and orchestral works. His musicals Gunmetal Blues (O’Neill Center -1991) and Enter the Guardsman (Olivier Award Nominee for “Best Musical” 1998) have both played in London and Off-Broadway as well as in many regional and international theatres. He was composer-in–residence for Arizona Opera from 2012-2017 where his western opera, Riders of the Purple Sage, premiered in February 2017. Craig is the recipient of the 2019 Arizona Governor’s Arts Award for Individual Artist. He is published by Theatrical Rights Worldwide, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Concord Theatricals, E.C. Howard Marren was awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement
Award by Marquis Who’s Who. He is profiled in Who’s Who in America and
Who’s Who in Entertainment. He won the Outer Critics’ Circle Award for his score
for What About Luv?; the Richard Rodgers Production Award, Seagram’s New
Music Theatre Award and Best Musical in Tokyo for Portrait of Jennie; and was
nominated for an individual Emmy Award for Sesame Street. Paramour (book and
lyrics by Joe Masteroff) was produced at the Old Globe Theatre. Georgia Avenue
(book and lyrics by Joe Masteroff) was given its world premiere performances at
the Norma Terris Theatre of Goodspeed Opera House. He contributed regularly to
Captain Kangaroo. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in theatre history from Tufts
University, served a three-year term as a member of the Tony Awards Nominating
Committee, and was on the Awards Committee of the Dramatists Guild.
