Synopsis
Finn is a young shark who doesn’t fit in with his dull grey pack. When he’s introduced to the colorful world of fish, Finn realizes that he may be a fish at heart. FINN is a heartwarming coming-of-age adventure for the whole family.
Development History
FINN was commissioned by the Kennedy Center, where it premiered in November 2024. The planned 2026/2027 tour was cancelled in the wake of the Trump administration’s takeover.
Fest Fast Facts
- After a critically and financially successful run at The Kennedy Center, FINN went viral when its tour was cancelled by the Trump Administration. Thankfully, the theatre community rallied around the show, with Seth Rudetsky’s Stars in the House producing an all-star concert presentation at The Town Hall in NYC.
- Chris, Chris, and Michael began collaborating because of the NAMT Festival. Chris Nee was looking for songwriters for her Disney series Vampirina, when two execs returned from the NAMT Festival with two names to recommend: Kooman & Dimond. The rest is history. The trio has worked on three animated series together, created over 250 songs for television, and were jointly nominated for an Emmy Award.
- Yes, we know that sharks are technically fish. Buuuuut…the sharks in our show don’t know that. The way they see it sharks rule, fish drool, and no amount of human-y scientific classification will convince them otherwise.
- FINN has incredible, cinematic sounding orchestral tracks that can be licensed along with the show, as well as a version for 10-piece orchestra created for The Town Hall concert version of FINN. Both were crafted by musical genius August Erkismoen.
- The writers set out to create the musical they wish they had seen as kids. But what they might be most proud of is that FINN seems to have become something more. Like the work of their artistic idols (Jim Henson, Walt Disney, Joan Ganz Cooney, etc.), Chris, Chris, and Michael hope the show resonates with audiences of all ages
