10th Annual Festival of New Musicals

Deborah Brevoort is the author of numerous plays, musicals and operas. She is best known for her play The Women of Lockerbie, which is performed throughout the United States and internationally. She is a two-time winner of the Frederick Loewe Award for King Island Christmas with David Friedman (NAMT Festival 1998) and Coyote Goes Salmon Fishing with Scott Richards. Her plays, which have been produced at Virginia Stage, Purple Rose, Barter Theatre, Perseverance Theatre, Mixed Blood and numerous others, include The Poetry of Pizza, The Comfort Team, The Blue-Sky Boys and The Velvet Weapon. She wrote the opera librettos for Embedded (composer: Patrick Soluri), commissioned by the American Lyric Theater, Steal a Pencil for Me (composer Gerald Cohen) and new adaptations of Die Fledermaus and Mozart’s The Impresario for the Anchorage Opera. She teaches at Goddard College, Columbia University and NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing program.

John Bucchino’s songs have been performed and recorded by some of the world’s great artists in venues including Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, The Sydney Opera House, London’s O2 stadium, and The White House. They have won him numerous awards including ASCAP’s Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award, and The Jonathan Larson, Kleban, and Fred Ebb Awards. Among other works, he’s written the music and lyrics for the Dreamworks animated film JOSEPH, KING OF DREAMS and the Broadway musical ÄúA Catered Affair.Äù He has released several solo and cast albums, two songbooks, and a children’s book. Joe DiPietro has won two Tony Awards, a Drama Desk Award and three Outer Critics Circle Awards. His musicals and plays have received thousands of productions across the country and around the world. He is currently writing the book for the new musical “Sinatra” and his acclaimed new show, “What’s New Pussycat?” will open on The West End next season. His other shows include Memphis (2010 Tony Award for Best Musical); Diana (which can be seen on Netflix) Nice Work If You Can Get It (10 Tony nominations); The Toxic Avenger (Outer Critics Circle Award – Best off-Broadway Musical); I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (longest-running musical revue in off-Broadway history); as well as the much-produced comedies Clever Little Lies and Over the River and Through the Woods, among others.
