About The Conference
Spring Conference 2008, “Strengthening the Philanthropic Muscle of Your Organization”, held in beautiful San Diego, California, focused on Fundraising and Development. Sessions included workshops and presentations on:

  • Board Recruitment
  • Corporate Sponsorship
  • Annual Fund
  • Major Gifts

and other topics that speak to current challenges in funding musical theatre.

Conference attendees also toured The Old Globe (3 theatres on a stunning campus in Balboa Park) and tickets to the opening night performance of DANCING IN THE DARK (the new stage adaptation of the classic musical film THE BAND WAGON) will be available at a special NAMT discounted rate. Valuable networking opportunities have been worked in throughout the schedule, and there will be opportunities to explore San Diego.

Highlights Included:

  • Thursday: Opening cocktail party at The Old Globe Theatre and optional opening night performance of DANCING IN THE DARK.
  • Friday: Keynote Speaker Barry Weissler (CHICAGO, SWEET CHARITY, WONDERFUL TOWN, GREASE), networking sessions, lunch, and conference sessions and workshops on Major Gifts and Corporate Sponsorship, as well as breakout sessions on government funding, donor perks, and cultivation events. Day ends with a “Yacht and Dock” Cocktail Party.
  • Saturday: annual membership meeting, tour of The Old Globe, capital campaigns session, sessions on Board Recruitment and Annual Fund.
