November 18th, 7:00pm to 8:30pm ET

This event is for High School Students interested in the Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge

Announcing Guest Artists:
Zeniba Now & Rodney Bush

Join Zeniba Now and Rodney Bush as they dive into the elements of Tone & Style and how they relate to character. What is your character doing throughout your song? How do they change from the beginning of the song to end? What tone are they using to express the emotions of this musical moment? What style best represents who they are and their given circumstances? Zeniba and Rodney will also demonstrate how improvisation exercises can be used to explore Tone & Style. Students will walk away from this session with tools to define their character’s emotion, action and journey through Tone & Style in their song.

This program is part workshop, part info session. In addition to an in-depth exploration of songwriting in musical theatre through the lens of character, NAMT staff will offer a detailed walk-through of the application process for the Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge. Participants are encouraged to jump in, ask questions and incorporate what they learn into their Songwriting Challenge submission.

Can’t make it to the scheduled time? No problem! A recording of this webinar will be made available on the NAMT website.
