About our Staff
BETSY KING MILITELLO (Executive Director) came to NAMT in August of 2011 from Outward Bound where she was Vice President of Development, responsible for an $8M annual fundraising goal. Prior organizations in which she served in non-profit administration and fundraising leadership roles include Hunter College, the NYU Child Study Center, Cooper Union and the Big Apple Circus, and she has also taught at Marymount Manhattan College as an Adjunct Professor in Non-profit Management. Following completion of her undergraduate degree at Harvard, she began her career in advertising; after receiving her Master’s degree in Public and Private Management (MPPM) from the Yale School of Management (with additional coursework in administration at the Yale School of Drama), she worked as a management consultant for Fortune 100 companies prior to moving to the non-profit sector. She also has theatre production experience, primarily in stage management and lighting, in both professional and volunteer musical theatre and opera organizations including Glimmerglass Opera and the Blue Hill Troupe.
ADAM GROSSWIRTH (Membership Director) has been NAMT’s Membership Director since 2008, acting as a liaison to NAMT’s 200 members, tending to their customer service needs and traveling to theatres across the country. He is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining NAMT’s many member services, programs and benefits, including two annual conferences, surveys, publications, member discounts and the website. Adam previously spent ten years as a stage manager, during which time he worked on many Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional and developmental productions, including Spring Awakening, Zanna Don’t!,Here Lies Jenny, The Big Time, Xanadu, Aida, The Green Bird, Serenade, The Secret Narrative of the Phone Book and Bright Lights Big City, and spent three seasons as the Stage Management Supervisor at the Williamstown Theatre Festival under the artistic direction of Roger Rees. Adam is a native New Yorker and a graduate of Tufts University.
CIERA IVESON (New Works Director) joined the NAMT team in 2016 after five years in Seattle. She produces the Festival of New Musicals, New Works Summits and Writers Roundtables; manages the National Fund for New Musicals and Writers Residency Grants; and oversees all of the New Works and Festival programs for NAMT. Prior to NAMT, she was the Festival Producer for the Village Originals Festival of New Musicals and Associate Production Manager at Village Theatre in Issaquah, WA. In addition to musical theatre producing, she also worked in Seattle developing contemporary performance pieces and new plays with On the Boards and The Town Theatre. From 2015-2016, Ciera was the Associate Producer and a board member for SHOWTUNES Theatre Company. Ciera is a graduate of Emerson College.
JEN WHITTON (Development Associate) joined the NAMT staff in 2013 after two years coordinating post production elements for a large advertising agency. She studied theater arts at SUNY New Paltz and arts administration at Indiana University, working in box office and house management in both locations. Jen moved to the city to intern with Roundabout Theatre Company in Special Events, then joined the staff of Jaradoa Theater, where she performed a variety of duties as Management Associate. She was born and raised in northern New York.
KARIN NILO (Program Associate) joined the NAMT staff in 2015 after completing McCarter Theatre’s internship program where she served as the Producing/Casting intern. She is a graduate of Brown University where she studied performance studies and anthropology. At Brown, Karin worked for the Theatre Arts Department as an Assistant Production Manager and served on the Musical Forum and Sock & Buskin production boards. Karin is originally from Cupertino, CA.
