A new version of Ace (Festival 2005) is being workshopped at the Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports:
The original version won entry into the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s Festival of New Musicals in New York in September 2005. And though “ACE” has since played in remarkable regional venues, such as San Diego’s Old Globe Theater, it contained what [composer Richard] Oberaker called “a fatal flaw”: It was written too broadly in an effort to reach and please the widest audience possible. Now, after almost five years of rewrites, the entire play has been reimagined with a tighter focus for this rebirth.
The reimagined Ace plays August 22 and 23. Read more at the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
