Congrats To Our Members and Alumni Nominated for NYC Theatre Awards

The incredibly busy New York awards season is underway, and the hard work of many NAMT members and alumni has been recognized in this full season of musical theatre. Congratulations to all!

  • An American in Paris [produced by members Apples and Oranges ArtsSarahbeth GrossmanVan Kaplan and Spencer Ross in association with Pittsburgh CLO] received 12 Tony nominations, including Best Musical, and 12 Drama Desk, 8 Outer Critics Circle, and 3 Drama League nominations.
  • Disenchanted! [produced by member Town Square Productions] received 1 Outer Critics Circle  and 2 Lucille Lortel  nominations, for Outstanding Lead and Featured Actress in a Musical.
  • Doctor Zhivago [lyrics by Michael Korie (NAMT Fest ’89 – Blanco) and Amy Powers (NAMT Fest ’00 – Lizzie Borden), originally produced by member theatre La Jolla Playhouse, produced on Broadway by members Junkyard Dog Productions and RKO Stage Productions] received 1 Outer Critics Circle  nomination, for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical.
  • Fly by Night [at member theatre Playwrights Horizons, past National Fund for New Musicals Writer Residency Grant recipient] received 4 Drama Desk nominations, including Outstanding Musical.
  • The Fortress of Solitude [produced by member theatre The Public Theater (National Fund for New Musicals Production Grant) in association with member theatre Dallas Theater Center (National Fund for New Musicals Project Development Grant), book by Itamar Moses (NAMT Fest ’12 – Nobody Loves You)] received 2 Drama Desk nominations, including Outstanding Music and Lyrics, and 1 Outer Critics Circle and 4 Lucille Lortel nominations.
  • Fun Home [produced and developed by member theatre The Public Theater] received 12 Tony nominations, including Best Musical, and 3 Drama League nominations.
  • Member Nancy Nagel Gibbs of 321 Theatrical Management will receive the Edith Oliver Service to Off-Broadway Award at the Lucille Lortels.
  • Hamilton [at member theatre The Public Theater] received 13 Drama Desk nominations, including Outstanding Musical, and 12 Lucille Lortel, 5 Outer Critics Circle and 3 Drama League nominations.
  • The Lion [produced by member Stacey Mindich Productions] received 2 Drama Desk nominations, including Outstanding Solo Performance, one Lucille Lortel nomination and 2 Outer Critics Circle nominations.
  • On the Town [produced by and premiered at member theatre Barrington Stage Company] received 4 Tony nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical, and 3 Drama Desk, 4 Outer Critics Circle and 2 Drama League nominations.
  • It Shoulda Been You [Festival of New Musicals 2009, written by Brian Hargrove and Barbara Anselmi; premiered at NAMT member The Village Theatre] received 3 Drama Desk nominations, including Outstanding Actress in a Musical for Lisa Howard (who first played the role in the NAMT Festival), and 6 Outer Critics Circle and 3 Drama League nominations.
  • Side Show [premiered at member theatre La Jolla Playhouse, produced on Broadway by member Seaview Productions] received 5 Drama Desk nominations, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and one Outer Critics Circle nomination.
  • Something Rotten [produced by member Kevin McCollum] received 10 Tony nominations, including Best Musical, and 9 Drama Desk, 12 Outer Critics Circle and 3 Drama League nominations.
  • Texas in Paris [at member theatre The York Theatre Company] received one Lucille Lortel nomination, for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical.
