August 13, 2010 in Palo Alto, CA
NAMT is excited to head to sunny California for this summer's New Works Summit, hosted by TheatreWorks in Palo Alto! At the Summit, the membership and alumni will gather to discuss developing new musicals while enjoying three new musicals offered by TheatreWorks as part of their New Works Festival. The New Works Summit is a great chance for us to gather to see some great shows and discuss models and new trends in developing new musicals. At the Summit, you will get the chance to see the shows with your colleagues in attendance which makes the exchange of ideas easily accesible with all of us in the same room. Members who have already registered include:
1113 Productions, 321 Theatrical Management, 42nd Street Moon, The 5th Avenue, Academy for New Musical Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare, Demos Bizar Entertainment, Goodspeed Musicals, Junkyard Dog Productions, La Jolla Playhouse, Las Positas College, The Spirit of Broadway, Western Stage and more!
Agenda: The Summit will take place in Palo Alto on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 1pm to 5pm. There will also be an additional special session for Summit attendees on Saturday, August 14 at 4pm. Click here to see more details.
Shows: The Summit is being held in conjunction with Theatreworks' New Works Festival over the weekend. The New Works Festival has helped developed shows like Emma (NAMT Festival 2006), Striking 12 (NAMT Festival 2004), Tinyard Hill (NAMT Festival 2007) and Tony Award-winner Memphis. This year, TheatreWorks will present a developmental production of Fly By Night and staged readings of Great Wall and Red Clay, plus two plays, all of which can be seen over that one weekend.
